Summer is beginning with the first heat waves across Europe, and for many insects the high season is now beginning. We find some of them, such as mosquitoes and wasps, particularly annoying. They can become a real plague, their behaviour is aggressive, and their bites and stings are extremely painful. While mosquitoes can also transmit diseases, the dangerous thing about a wasp sting is that it can cause an allergic reaction. In the worst case it can be fatal. The better you know your enemy, the more effectively you can fight him. Therefore, we have compiled the most important information about wasps, wasp traps, and how you can chase away wasps.

Interesting facts about wasps and their behaviour
In spring and early summer, wasps don't seem that annoying to us. This is because they are mainly looking for protein sources during this time. They receive these when they eat other insects, the habitat of people is then still uninteresting. The proteins are used as food for the larvae in the wasps' nest. In return, larvae produce a sugar-containing liquid. From the middle of summer, most larvae are adult wasps themselves. They no longer need proteins and no longer give sugar water.
However, wasps need sugar as an energy source, and they find it near us. Unfortunately, many people do not react optimally when they come into contact with the animals. Often people wave their arms or beat their hands wildly, which makes the animals even more aggressive. As is well known, wasps can sting as many times as they want. So whoever is a threat to them suffers a painful, burning sting. Which can be particularly dangerous should the person who is stung also allergic to wasp stings. This is especially problematic when children are stung, since often not all allergies are known.
Fight wasps and protect bees
How can you chase away wasps and at the same time act ecologically and sustainably? Most importantly, it is essential to avoid chemical agents, as they also kill bees and other beneficial organisms. Bees are already at risk and very important for our ecosystem. Instead, you should try a modern form of wasp trap that is ecological and yet highly effective. The control of wasps is therefore sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Poison-free wasp trap - effective and environmentally friendly
A good example are the wasp traps from SWISSINNO. They contain special attractants that keep bees away but contain no toxic chemicals. The attractant is simply mixed with water in the trap. The wasps go inside and drown. The trap only needs to be filled with water to effectively combat wasps for 2 to 3 weeks. This saves money and protects the environment in contrast to chemical agents.
The wasp trap can be used 5 to 10 meters away from the place to be protected: in the garden or courtyard, on the playground or terrace, at garbage places, in the beer garden – the possibilities of use are diverse. With the included twist wire, the trap can be hung up or simply set down. Thus, the installation is uncomplicated, the bait is environmentally friendly, and the wasp trap is effective.
