St. Gallen, 07.12.2023. If mice and rats infest commercial or residential areas and cannot be driven away or caught alive, then only lethal solutions will help. To prevent an uncontrolled spread of the rodents and major damage, mouse and rat traps or poison are used. The latter is the worst approach, not only do poisons endanger humans, domestic and wild animals, but the poisoned rodents only die after a few days of intense suffering. Finally, the dead rats and mice are often not found and disposed of, which leads to further problems (smell, insects). On the other hand, using traps is faster, more targeted, hygienic and humane.
In addition to the tried and tested impact traps, there are now also many new and technical advancements, both with mechanical and electronic traps. These improved traps offer some important advantages. SWISSINNO has developed a new electronic mouse and rat trap that is inviting to rodents, triggers absolutely reliably, catches safely, kills quickly and efficiently and allows hygienic and contactless emptying of the trap. Once set, traps must be checked daily, the electronic mouse and rat trap from SWISSINNO automates this task and sends a message directly to your mobile device via Bluetooth and notifies any catches with the free SWISSINNO Android or iOS app. These can be easily installed on smartphones and tablets, allowing the user to view the trap status at any time. The app displays the following info: operation, catch, battery level and faults. Convenient, modern and species-appropriate pest control from your couch.

3-plate system trigger and 9,000 volt high-voltage shock
Although it is sometimes essential to kill pests, it is nevertheless important to SWISSINNO that this is done quickly, humanely and reliably. To ensure this, the trigger of the electronic mouse and rat trap does not work mechanically, but is equipped with a 3-plate sensor. Each of these plates must be activated by the rodent in order to trigger a high voltage shock. This ingenious mechanism, together with the durable construction using robust materials, allows the mice and rats to inspect the trap extensively, and overcome any reticence. The high voltage is only switched on when they have familiarised themselves with the trap and step on the 3rd plate at the very end of the trap. All 3 plates are placed under high voltage and the rodents are in an optimal position. They cannot retreat backwards, as high voltage is also applied to the first plate.
At 9,000 volts this shock is extremely powerful, and mice and rats of any size are killed extremely quickly and in as humane a way as possible. To generate such a high voltage, the electronic mouse and rat trap requires four Type C batteries (LR14), and a battery lifespan of up to 12 months or up to 50 catches is possible. The trap will only activate if sufficient battery power is available, this effectively prevents the high-voltage shock from being too weak and only inflicting pain and suffering rather than death. The battery charge status can be checked at any time, using the app.
Sunflower seeds, cereal grains or other dry food can be used as bait. A few grains should also be laid out in front of the trap to arouse the rodents' interest. After switching on, in normal operation, the trap does not flash or beep, as rats and mice would react sceptically to lights and sounds.

Monitoring and control via app
Although the electronic mouse and rat trap can also be operated without any Bluetooth connection and fully independently of the app, both of these features do offer practical advantages. You can easily download the free app for iOS or Android and install it on your smartphone or tablet. Next, launch the app, establish a Bluetooth connection and allow notifications from the app. During your first use, you can activate the trap in the app once, so that it connects automatically. Several traps can also be monitored simultaneously with the app and individual device names can be assigned to the traps for a better overview.
The electronic mouse and rat trap notifies all connected smartphones and tablets of any catches, as soon as it is within the range of the Bluetooth connection. Now one or more traps can be placed in any location of your choosing, be it in the basement, the attic, the kitchen, the garage or the garden shed, including in hard-to-reach places. Instead of time-consuming, tiring manual checks, which require you to inspect each trap individually, you can now simply wait for the app to notify you about a catch. A night mode in the app ensures that the notifications are postponed for a freely selectable period of time in which you do not want to be disturbed.
